I Shaved My Head & Went to a Dermatologist: Here's What They Said About My Hair Products

I have been open with this community about my hair journey from the
beginning. Today, that means talking about something more personal,
my alopecia, why I shaved my head, and what happened when I finally
went to see a dermatologist for scalp itchiness. I am sharing this because someone here
needs to see it.

Watch below

I have been dealing with alopecia and scalp issues that got bad enough that I had to shave my head. And when you do not know what is going on with your scalp, you do not guess. You go see a professional.
So I did. I went to a dermatologist.

WHAT THE DERMATOLOGIST PRESCRIBED:
→ Ketoconazole 2% shampoo - used twice weekly for scalp health
→ Tacrolimus 0.1% ointment - applied to affected areas for irritation

WHAT THEY SAID ABOUT MY PRODUCTS:
Here is the part that matters for anyone using natural hair products while dealing with a scalp condition: my dermatologist reviewed my Castor Silk Serum and the Garnier Whole Blends Hair Honey I use on my head and cleared both. Neither product caused irritation or interfered with my treatment.

That matters. Because I formulated the Castor Silk Serum myself as a CPD-certified Natural Haircare Formulator, and knowing a dermatologist found nothing harmful in it means everything to me.

WHY I AM SHARING THIS: Because nobody talks about this. Nobody in the natural hair and scalp care space shows up and says, "I am struggling too, I went to a doctor, and here is what happened."  If you are dealing with scalp issues, alopecia, itchiness, thinning, or anything beyond a routine hair care problem, please see a dermatologist. Do not guess. Do not rely on YouTube alone. A professional diagnosis changes everything. Most insurance covers a dermatologist visit, so check with your insurance company.

This community is built on real information. That includes knowing when to go beyond DIY.
